Thomas EHRETSMANN,
illustrations and paintings
Thomas Ehretsmann was born in 1974 and grew up in Thann, France. He completed his studies at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg in 1998 and has led a successful career in illustration since then. Notably, his work has been featured in the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Elle Magazine and various European and American books and journals. He received two gold medals from the Society of Illustrators of New York (2011 and 2019), and two silver medals from the Society of Illustrators West (2013 and 2017).
In 2009, he spent several months in Norway studying with the internationally recognized painter, Odd Nerdrum.
His paintings were selected for the BP Portrait Award in London in 2016, 2017 and 2019. The painting “Double Portrait” wins second prize in 2017.
He has been invited to Italy several times to conduct some workshops about illustration and sketches from life.
